Deb Johnson is a Certified Professional Life and Wellness Coach, Author, Public Speaker and Bipolar Manager (she’s got it and she manages it). She inspires her readers through her Web site and blog at www.bipolarchick2therescue.com. Writing with humor, honesty and a no-holds-barred attitude, Deb has created her Superhero alter ego, Bipolar Chick, to Fight Stigma and Eradicate the Shame, Blame and Toxic Niceness surrounding Mental Illness.

Now as a Certified Professional Life and Wellness Coach, Deb has become a motivator and role model. She has a unique connection with her clients that stems from her own personal journey towards emotional wellness, physical fitness and thriving health. Prior to beginning her Coaching career, Deb struggled with her own diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder which was exacerbated by obesity and diabetes. Determined to find balance and overall wellness, Deb attacked her many roadblocks with hard work and a strong circle of experts, family and friends. As each goal was reached and a new one set into its place, Deb became empowered to share her story. She is currently writing her memoir, Between the Broken Places, as well as a parent’s guide to explaining a family member’s mood disorder to young children.

Deb has recently launched The Balancing Act ~ Life and Wellness Coaching Practice ~ Serving the Bipolar Community. Deb envisions a mental health community that embraces its challenges and all aspects of living well, including stabilization, weight loss, and overall lifestyle. By imparting to her clients a unique and exciting philosophy that stresses the integration of fitness, nutrition, and behavioral changes, Deb empowers the people she works with to define and reach their personal goals, both physical and emotional. She is the creator of the buddy system wellness program called, “The Balance Builders”, where the motto is: “Misery may love company but it’s no match for the company the Balance Builders keep – Together we can achieve great things.”

Certified by NAMI as a Peer to Peer Group Leader and an “In Our Own Voice” public speaker, Deb communicates her message of hope, health and wellness to a large audience.

When Deb is not coaching, she enjoys traveling with her family, reading and being involved with the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and the Triangle Bipolar Disorder Support Group where she serves as Co-Organizer. Deb lives in North Carolina with her husband and youngest of three daughters, as well as three very spoiled dogs.
