A message from Chato: video

When Chato B. Stewart started the Cartoon-A-thon in 2008…his goal:  Be “actively” contributing in a small way to May’s Mental Health Awareness month which was established by Mental Health Americana in 1946.

“The purpose of the Cartoon-A-Thon is to use humor and laughter as positive tools in dealing with emotional disturbances which effect many people and families due to mental illness.”

As a person living with Bipolar Disorder and a cartoonist, Chato came up with an idea of drawing  cartoons about mental health disorders each day in May.

In 2008, he drew about 18 cartoons.  The following year in 2009, he drew 31 cartoons and included some of his readers. In 2010, he introduced the “Mental Health Heroes” that highlighted 31 heroes in the mental health community.

This year, the Cartoon-A-thon again will focus on Mental Health Heroes, but this time the website has changed into a blog.

Please blogroll and share this new blog with all your friends!
